Celebration and “Catequistas en Acción” Thanks to Hispanic Ministry
Over 120 catechists gathered for a full day of training and spiritual growth led by the Archdiocese of Atlanta’s Hispanic and Latino Ministry. Partially funded by the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal, the ministry was able to answer the request by Hispanic and Latino Catholics to explore the teachings of the Church in greater depth.
Called “Catequistas en Acción,” catechists-in-training joined together for hands-on learning and discovered new ways to share the faith. The day was led by director Yolanda Muñoz, Sister Miriam Mendoza, and a team of volunteers. Participants delved into a wide array of topics, from the Catechism of the Catholic Church to the structure of the Mass to the purpose and spiritual power of the Sacraments.

Everyone also took time to celebrate. Joining together in song, all who attended wished Sister Miriam a happy birthday!
Any parish can bring this catechist training to their community. “Catequistas en Acción” was shared at St. Philip Benizi in Jonesboro and will be brought to St. Pius X in Conyers.
It is one of many ways the Hispanic and Latino Ministry supports Spanish-speaking Catholics who want to put their faith into action. Celebración y agradecimiento al Ministerio Hispano por el programa Catequistas en Acción
Más de 120 catequistas participaron en un día completo de capacitación y crecimiento espiritual, dirigido por el Ministerio Hispano y Latino de la Arquidiócesis de Atlanta. Parcialmente financiado por la Campaña Anual del Arzobispo, el ministerio pudo responder a la petición de los católicos hispanos y latinos de cubrir las enseñanzas de la Iglesia en mayor profundidad.
Bajo el nombre de “Catequistas en Acción”, los catequistas en formación se unieron para aprender de forma práctica y descubrir nuevas maneras de compartir la fe. La jornada fue dirigida por la directora Yolanda Muñoz, la Hermana Miriam Mendoza y un equipo de voluntarios. Los participantes profundizaron sobre una amplia variedad de temas, desde el Catecismo de la Iglesia Católica hasta la estructura de la misa y el propósito y el poder espiritual de los sacramentos.
