Hispanic & Latino Ministry Serves Vibrant Community of Half a Million Across the Archdiocese of Atlanta
The Hispanic and Latino Ministry of the Archdiocese of Atlanta has shared the good news and good work of our faith for over 60 years. Serving a rapidly growing community of over 500,000 people, this ministry can respond to the needs of the faithful thanks to your support.
At a national convention for Hispanic Diocesan leaders, this ministry and the Archdiocese of Atlanta received notable praise for the involvement of young people. Because of the Hispanic and Latino Ministry, the second annual Young Adult Congress brought together Jóvenes Peregrinos de la Esperanza, or Young Pilgrims of Hope, from parishes across our community for a day of joyful fellowship.

The Hispanic and Latino Ministry continued serving families through its newly launched Ser Y Crecer program. These regular workshops give teenagers ages 14 to 17 and their parents vital communication skills to honestly discuss challenging topics like toxic relationships, familial and societal pressures, future career goals, and more.

The ministry also worked with the Disabilities Ministry to share El Campamento de Jesús, a free day camp for people with disabilities. With the help of St. Patrick in Norcross, St. Joseph in Dalton, and St. John Paul II Mission in Gainesville, Spanish-speaking participants from across the archdiocese gathered for a day of fun and faith at Camp Twin Lakes in Winder, Georgia.
Later in the year, 21 dioceses gathered at Our Lady of the Americas Mission in Lilburn for a regional young adult encounter. Archbishop Gregory John Hartmayer celebrated Mass, and 11 dioceses participated in a soccer tournament, which Atlanta won!

The ministry uplifts lay and religious alike, with Hispanic priests from across the country gathering in Atlanta for the 35th annual National Association of Hispanic Priests Convention. Guided by the theme “Priests, Witnesses of Hope,” attendees delved into topics such as pastoral leadership and immigration. Atlanta’s own Father Jose Duvan Gonzalez, parochial vicar at St. John the Evangelist in Hapeville, received special recognition at the Good Shepherd Banquet.
Our Hispanic and Latino Ministry can do all of this because of you and your parish’s generous participation in the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal. Your support touches thousands of lives across the region, lifting up the one body of Christ.

This vibrant community is growing, and the ministry needs your help to care for over half a million Hispanics and Latinos who call our archdiocese home. Continue lifting up the Hispanic and Latino Ministry by participating in the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal.
On January 10th and 11th, 2026, your second collection donations will directly help the Hispanic and Latino Ministry. Support the ministry’s growth during the second collection at all Masses or by giving online today.
