New Handbook Brings Hope to Those Facing Miscarriage

Because of the thoughtful efforts of the Respect Life Ministry and the kindness of a donor, those facing the sorrow of miscarriage will receive guidance and support from clergy with the publication of the Miscarriage Parent’s Handbook.

Respect Life partnered with Red Bird Ministries, a Catholic organization that serves anyone who has experienced the loss of a child of any age, to bring this resource to the Archdiocese of Atlanta. All 700 clergy will receive a copy thanks to the compassionate gift of a donor through the Office of Mission Advancement Fund.

“People who are close to me have gone through this tragedy…Without something like this, people can feel more at a loss. This could be a reservoir of hope.”

The handbook serves as a guide to navigate the physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects of miscarriage care. Balancing practical advice and resources with support through the faith, the Director of Respect Life Ministry, Joey Martineck, knows the book will allow for priests and deacons to “be educated and assist those who have experienced this cross in their life.”

Priests and deacons will receive the books by the end of 2025. Check back in November to see images from the book distribution. With this valuable resource available, the donor hopes those suffering from miscarriage will know they are supported and know that even during loss, “God is with you. Always.”
