The Diocese of Marthandam, India was a 2022-2023 Grant Award Recipient of Catholic Mission Outreach. In January 2025, we received an update from the Diocese of Marthandam, discussing the tangible impact of your generosity to Catholic Mission Outreach.

What is Catholic Mission Outreach?

Catholic Mission Outreach (CMO) is the international outreach program of the Archdiocese of Atlanta that supports the work of evangelization and serves the needs of the poor throughout the Catholic Church worldwide. It is funded primarily through second collections in parishes as well as direct donations to the CMO fund.

How Your Generosity Made a Difference

Because of your donation to CMO, ten woman-headed families have been provided the opportunity to participate in income-generating activities. The women are thrilled to earn income by working in organic agriculture, cow rearing, and petty and textile shops. They are grateful for the chance to sustain their livelihood, care for their families, and save for the future.

The Diocese of Marthandam has also provided for 40 chronically ill elderly patients admitted to a living facility. The resources include medical care, food, and clothing. The doctor, nurses, and facility staff all take special care in distributing these essential resources to patients who have been abandoned at their vulnerable age.

Along with these life-changing initiatives, 11 students have relished the opportunity to enroll in training programs that will advance their skills for the local job market. These children would not have the chance to earn an education due to their poverty-stricken backgrounds and are joyous to continue their studies.
